Domains

Connecting a Custom Domain to Your Trakroom Store

Trakroom allows eligible stores to connect their own custom domain or subdomain to their storefront.

For example, instead of sharing

`yourstore.trakroom.com`

you can use a domain such as

`beats.yourname.com`

`store.yourname.com`

or even

`yourname.com`

Your customers will see your custom domain in their browser while still accessing your Trakroom storefront.

---

## Before You Start

You must own or have access to the DNS settings for the domain you want to connect.

Your domain can be registered with any provider, including

* Cloudflare * GoDaddy * Namecheap * Squarespace Domains * Hostinger * Porkbun * Name.com * Other DNS providers

You normally **do not need to transfer your domain or change its nameservers**.

You only need access to wherever the DNS records for your domain are currently managed.

---

# Step 1 — Open Custom Domains in Trakroom

Sign in to your Trakroom producer dashboard.

Go to

**Dashboard → Domains**

Under **Custom domain**, enter the complete domain you want to use.

For example

`market.yourname.com`

Then click

**Add domain**

Do not include

or a page path.

### Correct

`market.yourname.com`

### Incorrect

`market.yourname.com/store`

---

# Step 2 — Copy the DNS Record Shown by Trakroom

After adding your domain, Trakroom will automatically prepare the domain and display the DNS record you need to add.

For a subdomain, you may see something similar to

| Type | Name | Value | | ----- | ------ | -------------------- | | CNAME | market | cname.vercel-dns.com |

**Always use the exact DNS values shown inside your Trakroom dashboard.**

Do not copy DNS values from another producer, another website, or an online tutorial. The records displayed by Trakroom are the records you should use for your domain.

---

# Step 3 — Open Your DNS Provider

Log in to the service where your domain's DNS is managed.

For example, if your domain uses Cloudflare DNS

  1. Sign in to Cloudflare.
  2. Select your domain.
  3. Open **DNS**.
  4. Select **Records**.
  5. Click **Add record**.

The exact wording may be slightly different with another DNS provider.

---

# Step 4 — Add the DNS Record

Enter the information exactly as Trakroom displays it.

For example, if Trakroom shows

**Type**

`CNAME`

**Name**

`market`

**Value**

`cname.vercel-dns.com`

then create the following record with your DNS provider

| Setting | Value | | -------------- | -------------------- | | Type | CNAME | | Name / Host | market | | Target / Value | cname.vercel-dns.com | | TTL | Auto or Default |

Different DNS providers may use different names for the same field.

For example, **Name**, **Host**, and **Hostname** generally refer to the same thing.

Likewise, **Value**, **Target**, **Destination**, and **Points to** may refer to the same thing.

---

# Cloudflare Users

If your DNS is managed through Cloudflare, we recommend setting the Trakroom CNAME record to

**DNS only**

rather than

**Proxied**

The cloud beside the record should normally be **gray**, not orange.

For example

| Type | Name | Target | Proxy | | ----- | ------ | -------------------- | -------- | | CNAME | market | cname.vercel-dns.com | DNS only |

This allows the domain to connect directly to Trakroom's hosting infrastructure.

---

# Step 5 — Save the DNS Record

Save the new record with your DNS provider.

DNS changes are not always instant.

They can sometimes become available within a few seconds or minutes, but some providers may take longer to update.

You do not need to repeatedly remove and recreate the record while waiting.

---

# Step 6 — Return to Trakroom and Click Verify

Return to

**Trakroom → Dashboard → Domains**

Find the custom domain you added and click

**Verify**

Trakroom will check whether your DNS configuration is correct.

If everything is configured properly, your domain will become active.

You may see statuses such as

**Pending**

The domain has been added, but Trakroom is still waiting for the required DNS record.

**Active**

The domain has been successfully connected.

**SSL Pending**

The domain is connected, but its secure HTTPS certificate is still being prepared.

**SSL Active**

Your secure HTTPS connection is ready.

Once both the domain and SSL are active, your store can be accessed securely using

---

# Using a Subdomain

A subdomain is something before your main domain.

Examples include

`beats.yourname.com`

`store.yourname.com`

`market.yourname.com`

`music.yourname.com`

For subdomains, Trakroom will normally provide a **CNAME** record.

For example

`market.yourname.com`

may require

| Type | Name | Value | | ----- | ------ | -------------------- | | CNAME | market | cname.vercel-dns.com |

You only need to configure the subdomain you entered.

Connecting

`market.yourname.com`

does **not** require you to change

`yourname.com`

or

This means you can continue using your main website elsewhere while using a separate subdomain for your Trakroom store.

For example

`yourname.com` → Your main website

`www.yourname.com` → Your main website

`market.yourname.com` → Your Trakroom store

These can all coexist.

---

# Using Your Root Domain

You can also connect the root of your domain.

For example

`yourname.com`

instead of

`beats.yourname.com`

When connecting a root domain, Trakroom may provide an **A record** instead of a CNAME.

After entering your root domain into Trakroom, use the DNS record displayed on the Domains page.

For example, Trakroom may instruct you to create

| Type | Name | Value | | ---- | ---- | ---------------------------- | | A | @ | IP address shown by Trakroom |

The `@` symbol usually represents your root domain.

Again, **use the exact value shown by Trakroom rather than manually choosing an IP address.**

---

# What About www?

Your root domain and `www` are technically two separate hostnames.

For example

`yourname.com`

and

are not automatically the same DNS record.

If you connect

`yourname.com`

and also want

to work with Trakroom, you may need to add `www.yourname.com` separately or configure a redirect with your DNS/domain provider.

---

# Do I Need to Change My Nameservers?

Usually, no.

If your domain already uses Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap, Hostinger, or another DNS provider, you can normally leave your nameservers exactly as they are.

Simply add the DNS record Trakroom provides wherever your DNS is currently managed.

Changing nameservers unnecessarily can affect other services connected to your domain, including

* Your main website * Business email * Email forwarding * Verification records * Other subdomains

Only change nameservers if you specifically intend to move your entire DNS configuration to another provider.

---

# What If a DNS Record Already Exists?

You cannot normally have two conflicting records for the same hostname.

For example, if you want

`market.yourname.com`

and you already have

`market` → another CNAME

you will need to remove or change the old `market` record before connecting it to Trakroom.

The same applies if an A record already exists for that exact hostname.

Be careful not to delete unrelated DNS records.

For example, connecting

`market.yourname.com`

does not require deleting records for

`mail.yourname.com`

`store.yourname.com`

or your domain's MX email records.

---

# Example: Connecting a Domain Through Cloudflare

Suppose you own

`yourname.com`

and want your Trakroom store to use

`market.yourname.com`

### 1. Add the domain to Trakroom

Enter

`market.yourname.com`

and click **Add domain**.

### 2. Trakroom displays

**CNAME**

**Name:** `market`

**Value:** `cname.vercel-dns.com`

### 3. Open Cloudflare

Go to

**yourname.com → DNS → Records → Add record**

### 4. Create

**Type:** CNAME

**Name:** market

**Target:** cname.vercel-dns.com

**Proxy status:** DNS only

**TTL:** Auto

### 5. Save the record.

### 6. Return to Trakroom.

Click

**Verify**

Once verification and SSL are complete, your storefront will be available at

---

# Your Existing Website Can Stay Where It Is

Connecting a Trakroom subdomain does not mean your entire website needs to move to Trakroom.

For example, you could have

`yourname.com` → Your portfolio website

`shop.yourname.com` → Shopify

`mail.yourname.com` → Email service

`beats.yourname.com` → Trakroom

Each hostname can point to a different service.

---

# SSL and HTTPS

Trakroom automatically handles SSL certificates for connected custom domains.

You do not need to purchase an SSL certificate separately.

After your DNS has been verified, SSL may initially show

**SSL Pending**

Once provisioning is complete, it will change to

**SSL Active**

Your store will then work securely over

---

# Troubleshooting

## My domain still says Pending

Check that the DNS record at your provider exactly matches what Trakroom displays.

Confirm

* The record type is correct. * The Name/Host is correct. * The Target/Value is correct. * There are no conflicting DNS records. * If using Cloudflare, the record is set to **DNS only**. * You saved your DNS changes.

Then wait a few minutes and click **Verify** again.

---

## I added the record but verification fails

DNS changes sometimes take time to propagate.

Wait several minutes and try **Verify** again.

Depending on your DNS provider and previous DNS settings, propagation can occasionally take longer.

---

## Cloudflare shows an orange cloud

Click the orange cloud beside the Trakroom DNS record so that it changes to

**DNS only**

The cloud should appear gray.

Then return to Trakroom and click **Verify** again.

---

## My DNS provider asks for a Host instead of Name

Use the value Trakroom displays under **Name**.

For example, if Trakroom displays

`market`

enter

`market`

as the Host.

Some providers automatically append your domain name, so you may see it displayed afterward as

`market.yourname.com`

This is normal.

---

## My provider asks for Target instead of Value

Use the value Trakroom provides.

For example

`cname.vercel-dns.com`

Depending on your provider, this field may be called

* Target * Value * Points to * Destination * Canonical name

---

## My main website stopped working

If you were only trying to connect a subdomain, make sure you did not modify the DNS record for your root domain.

For example, connecting

`beats.yourname.com`

should normally only require changing the DNS record for

`beats`

It should not require changing the record for

`@`

unless Trakroom specifically instructed you to do so.

---

# Removing a Custom Domain

To disconnect a custom domain from your Trakroom store

  1. Open **Dashboard → Domains**.
  2. Find the domain.
  3. Click **Remove**.
  4. Remove the corresponding Trakroom DNS record from your DNS provider if you no longer intend to use it.

Removing the domain from Trakroom does not automatically restore whatever website previously used that hostname.

If the hostname was previously connected to another service, restore that service's DNS record afterward.

---

# Important

Always follow the DNS instructions displayed directly beside your domain inside Trakroom.

Trakroom automatically determines the appropriate configuration for the domain you are connecting.

**Do not copy another user's DNS settings.**

**Do not change your nameservers unless necessary.**

**Do not modify unrelated email or website DNS records.**

Once your DNS record is saved, return to Trakroom and click **Verify**.

When your domain shows **Active** and **SSL Active**, your custom Trakroom storefront is ready to use.
